"OIL CAN" what???

We're almost there! (So sorry for the painfully obvious end of the yellowbrick road style analogy title)
But it's true! We are SO close to shooting the pilot that it's bizarre how much I'm not freaking out yet.

There is a melt down in the works, I'm sure, but for now my brain hasn't had time to take a break from the non stop preparations to fully process our proximity to production. That certainly was a "p"-word heavy sentence, huh?

WELL, moving on, in order to tie up some loose ends, we've reopened our fund raising trench coat to expose our inadequacies to the public. I should edit myself, but I won't. I just...can't. And we're going with Indiegogo this time. They have a neat approach to fundraising. As opposed to the kickstarter angle where you need to reach the goal to get the money, indiegogo just asks for a small percentage of whatever funds you raise. It's neat. I recommend it to the up and coming fundraisers out there.

Please check it out here.  Here I mean, not there.

Any and all monies you give us goes to ensuring the safe and complete production of the pilot. We really need it and are so grateful to everyone who helps support this project. We're grateful to anyone who wishes us well, even if you can't donate anything, pass it along to friends. It really is an "anything you can do helps" sort of situation.

Thank you everyone. This has been a fantastic time and I can't wait to share our show with you.

Sincerely

Kevin J. Kelly, Jr.

We're Off....to Comic Con

Hey! If you're at Comic Con this weekend keep an eye out for Scram and his friend the Spaceman. Scram told me he'd be "harnessing the truth from the peoples butts", sooo, not sure what that means and didn't feel like getting into it with him. In any case, if you see him, give him a hug!

Also, we officially casted our very talented friend Lu in the role of E.P. Stone. The cast is almost complete, the sets are all underway and the new puppets look fantastic!!!
Here's a preview of the 6 foot tall sock puppet, Ignatz!

In stranger news, me (Kevin) and Pats band, (aptly called "Zowee"), will be playing a surprise show at Philadelphia's Union Transfer on either November 10th, or 11th, with one of our favorite bands, State Radio!!! We'll be promoting the bonanza (sure, why not?), out of the show there as well as selling our ep with a special song by Scram called "the Sumthinerother", with a video on it, which will eventually go up on our youtube page. Speaking of which, have you been here lately, little sweets???

SO much more exciting news this month to come, we will keep you updated as we progress!!! In the meantime, enjoy our minty fresh new logo!!!!!!!

Love with the utmost sincerity
Kevin
ps - October 21st is the launch date for our brand new website. MORE NEWS ON THAT NEXT TIME, ZOWEE CADETS!

Good Against Remotes AND the Living!

I KNOW! I know it's been way too long, I feel like a delinquent and let's face it, I totally am. It's not my fault though, Adam Sheehan, the co-writer of the show is too lazy to update this and I've been too busy. Trust me it's all Adams fault. He's an idiot, here's the proof by the way

INCRIMINATING I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?!?! It's like, OKAY dude, I get it, you like things that are lame. Except Iron Maiden isn't lame. Someone must have tricked him into wearing that shirt. Or he was wearing it "Ironically" because, I've been told, he thinks that's funny, and doesn't understand irony or Iron Maiden.

EITHER WAY, September has been an INCREDIBLE month for us here at Zowee. Anhedonia is officially a CO-PRODUCTION NOW (!!!!) between Zowee and the beautiful talented young men at Monkey Boys Productions, a puppet production company based out of Bristol, PA. (We're based out of Philly, in America, just in case you didn't know).

I have a bunch of cool pictures of the monsters and puppets we've been building for the shoot that I will be sharing with you, shortly.

Also in cool news, we rented a warehouse in South Philly where we will be building all the sets for the shoot! We're always in need of help so if you or anyone you know wants to have free food and fun helping us out get in touch!

As always, I love you more than Adam loves anything because he lacks the capacity to love anything but grossing me out with his stories of protein shakes and enemas, and here are some photos from the shop!

This is the Chipka Bird
 Meet Toe!
This is the head of what will become the six foot seven Thing That Only Eats Ponies...

And as a special treat, here is a sneak peek at Scrams new, furrier look.

Don't worry, he's got short shorts on.

Love more than Adam

Don't Pretend You Haven't Noticed My Cardboard Box, Julia....

I KNOW! I KNOW! There really is no excuse for not posting in SUCH a long time BUT we have a pretty good reason. Adam died and I had to go underground to trick Hades to give him back to me, but okay that was a lie. Adam is better than ever. The truth is we've been weirding hard at work to get the pilot on track and things have been fantastic!

So fantastic, in fact, we have character designs for you...

We also have a fantastic little logo .....

Get ready for more great stuff and fantastic news coming up piping hot soon! Also, we've been holding out on you! Two new shorts this weekend!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!

Sincerest Love

True Faith!

It's 4 in the morning and why am I awake updating the Zowee Blog and not sleeping? Because some things are just more important than a full nights sleep and listening to New Order while working on a set and props for a shoot tomorrow in the Zowee House basement is one of them!

(a lovely portrait of the ZHouse fireplace mantel, aka Harry's permanent residence)

I'm trying to be more upfront with you, bloggees, I think it's the only thing that will make our relationship work, and I just can't keep this from you anymore, we've got a bunch of really fantastic new shorts coming up in the next months as well as live performances, possible new puppets, (which would be amazing considering we have no monies yet to build new ones yet), tons of new art work and as a fun  little side we're going to do casting, (call our friends over), and have people read for the human parts in the show to see who'll play all of "normal" human beings opposite Jef. We have so many talented, funny friends I am really excited to see what they bring to the characters Adam and I have been working on for the last year. I'm sure it will be a blast, and if our friends are willing, we'll be posting those videos on the site as well.

Speaking of artwork, here's a very, VERY rough draft of Mr. Connectorkit, Jef's dad

To give you an idea of what's going on, Jef Connectorkit's dad, (pictured above), is a furry blue monster who married a human 30 years ago, had Jef, then kicked her out and no one has heard from her ever since.  When drawing up designs for him I remembered I had once read an interview where George Lucas was asked how he came up with all the original character designs for Star Wars. He said every character in the first three movies were combinations of different animals, household appliances, famous actors, so on and so forth. I always thought that was the neatest thing and even though I've made tons of comics and creatures before, this was the first project where I really wanted to make an effort to follow that idea of combining household things with animals, famous actors and anything I can think of. Connectorkit, for example is based on Dr. Teeth, Rip Torn, a blue beetle and this fantastic fuzzy blue blanket I had when I was a kid. Sure, it's not a groundbreaking technique, but I found it fun! Especially since so many characters in the show are things themselves!

Also, the greatest Star Wars moment ever? Let me know what you think because I could never choose just ONE moment.

As always

Love

Kevin

PS!
speaking of an amazing combiner of things you wouldnt expect - check out Shaun Tan. His books are beautifully illustrated and heartbreakingly touching. Definitely not just for kids.
